FAQs

If your vitamin D levels are low, you may need more sun exposure, your body may not absorb vitamin D efficiently, or you may have other reasons such as medical issues. High vitamin D levels can be a sign of over-supplementation.

Most people have no symptoms of low vitamin D, or vague symptoms including tiredness and aches and pains.

Vitamin D is made naturally in your skin through sunlight exposure. That’s why it’s best to check your levels during cooler seasons when you’re getting less sunshine than in summer. You could also be at risk of deficiency if you wear high-coverage clothing regularly. As many as 1 in 5 UK adults are deficient in vitamin D, so it’s a good health move to check your levels regularly.

Talk to your doctor before taking this test. Being pregnant can have a noticeable impact on your results, so make sure to check in with your GP first.
